Fluidity 2

Egor Zigura

2010

Description

This work is the continuation of the flexible shaping experiments that extend beyond the familiarity of realistic “art language”. The composition of the sculpture is not oversaturated with details and accurately transmits the idea of fluidity (the vividness and harmony of Yoga movements) which emits a certain philosophical weight to the piece. Well-placed accents with concave surfaces and “counter-volumes” that are used in contrast to the natural convex shape allow the viewer to focus on the internal space of sculpture. In general, the alternation of surfaces, volumes and counter- volumes create a harmonious flowing figure that, to some extent, continues and creatively interprets the tradition initiated by the world famous Ukrainian sculptor Alexander Archipenko.
